Hi my name is Sharon and I am the Centre Director of Tuatara Preschool. I first came to Tuatara Preschool on practicum while studying for my Diploma of Teaching (ECE). It was a wonderful experience and I learned so much from the teachers that were here I wanted to stay. I got my wish a year later and become part of the teaching team in 2007. In 2008 I upgraded my qualification to a Bachelor in Education (ECE) and achieved the honour of leading an amazing team of teachers as Centre Director. I am exceedingly passionate about what I do at Tuatara. My goals is to foster children to develop a "love of learning" by providing an environment that encourages children to experiment, investigate, question and discover the world around them. | ![]() |

Our teaching team is made up of qualified teachers or teachers in training who are passionate about what they do. They are exceptionally skilled at providing challenging learning experiences that foster children’s growing sense of themselves as competent and capable learners. They provide encouragement and support that encourages children’s independent thinking as they explore and make discoveries. They interact with children in ways that affirm their ideas and choices and enrich their play and conversion.
Tuatara Preschool is very fortunate to have a full-time experienced cook on the team. Wendy provides a range of balanced and nutritious home-cooked meals throughout the day. We work under the guidelines of the National Heart Foundation.
The Ministry of Education requires a ratio of 10 children to each teacher, but at Tuatara Preschool we have one educator to every seven children.
